Cats On Tuesday--The Life of Riley

I'm sure by now you recognize Anela on HER rug, her favorite place to relax in the afternoon and evening when she's not running around socializing and whooping it up and whatever else she does when we're busy.

I found this funny cat quote, and I'd like to share it with you:

"Anybody who doesn't know what soap tastes like never washed a cat." Franklin P. Jones

This quote got me to thinking....isn't it time I brave the "Cat Bath Ritual"? Or maybe I should send her off to get her teeth cleaned, a nice bath, toenails clipped and let someone else taste soap. I really don't like the taste of soap, not that I've tasted it very often in my life, for Anela has a hypnotic way of making me forget about a cat bath. In any event, she looks clean enough, right? See, she did it again!

I don't have a cat, but I have 3 dogs and I don't bathe them often since they stay indoor :) Thanks for visiting me today, Kuanyin!

Nobody ever bathes me except Sam! I don't even bathe myself! Don't give your cat a bath it is Unnatural! The lady and the man who live with me once tried and I made them very sorry! I punished them for days and made the lady cry by running away from her whenever she tried to pet me! DON'T DO IT!

xxx Flat Cat

Please forgive my rather self-centered young colleague. Yes, it is sadly true that when we are placed in water without our consent our instincts kick in and we can't help reacting as if we were being drowned. Perhaps you can lure your Cat into the bathtub...Lydia quite likes playing in the bathtub, but I've never seen the appeal myself... Good luck to you both!

Sincerely, Sam

OMG, I would totally LOVE a spa day and I bet Anela would as well. Love the sex-ay rug pose!

I have to say I don't agree with that quote. I have weekly baths, because I'm a Sphynx, and my humans have never tasted soap when bathing me. I am very well behaved in my bath, and although I don't enjoy it, I don't protest too much, unless they start taking too long. I also have my nails clipped once a week since they grow quickly.

I had the bright idea once of putting this 8 week kitten in the shower with me and clean us both together. It is a wonder I didn't bleed to death! I've never had so many cuts and bleeding scratches...bad bad idea.

Anyway cats are "Do it yourself" persons and don't want to go to a beauty salon ! Not like us who purr inside when we go there !
Anela has a nice round belly ! Another poor cat !
I am laughing the whole afternoon now because of the comments I get about Arthur's tail ! It becomes a very important world wide matter. Don't wonder if Bush writes in my comments because he is concerned too !

Yes we do smell like soap, the finest there is, says Rosa and Felicia, and adds: We do bite on doublesided cartons, and need no other teeth-cleaning; and we have a cat-scratch for our nails. But sometimes we need a little help to get rid of those fleas. We simply tell our two-legs we want to get rid of them.

PS. Yes tehy do

that quote is the truth!

As for baths, I have someone else do the dirty work, usually every 18 months or do.

But only on Blessing. For some reason, his white fur turns yellow from his cleaning. Then it's time - and he usually smells funny by then. He gets wicked dander, too.

D :)

We don´t bath, our human brushes our fur often. If we use soap on lunas fur we never get it out its too much fur.
It´s a very funny photo !
Have a nice day :-)

Anela is very pretty and looks clean and well-kept to me and my kitties. My cats don't get baths, though -- they go through the spit'n'polish routine on their own. ;-)

Sorry for the confusion about the date of my COT post, Kuanyin. It was this week's and I should have mentioned that since I posted it Monday afternoon. Thanks for stopping by!

I love to see cats secure and safe enough to sleep while exposing their belly like that. They have wonderful homes. She is clean, so don't worry!

We never bathe unless they get into oil or something like that.

The idea of a day with nails done and a spa setting and hot towels and a nice cool shower sounds great, if you are a human.... a cat? Not so much.

You had better check out the "You Tube" cat bathing videos before attempting that! Do you have a suit of armor to wear?

I once had a cat meet a skunk and so I had to give him a tomato juice bath. You have never seen anything like this red tabby Tom cat leaping up the shower walls and almost succeeding in escaping over an eight foot shower enclosure!

Good luck. Let us know how it goes!

PS. Do you have health insurance?

I've had to give Oscar a bath, especially when he was younger. I wrote a post about it last year, much to other bloggers' amusement.

Neither of us were happy with the experience.
